How hypnotherapy can aid in weight-loss and healthy lifestyle patterns.

Have you found that you have trouble sticking to a healthy diet, and exercise programme, do you often use negative self-talk to tell yourself you are just not able to stick to a healthy lifestyle?  Do you start on a packet of biscuits, or crisps and find yourself just finishing off the entire packet? This could be in fact a subconscious problem that can be supported through clinical hypnotherapy on its own, or in conjunction with other effective coaching and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques.

  • If you were anything like me prior to completing my clinical hypnotherapy training, you may have envisioned a hypnotherapy session being in a room with a watch being swung across your face, or a spinning image being spun in front of your eyes, while being told “you are getting very sleepy”. You may have also watched a hypnotist convince someone that they are now a chicken, and to be fair, this is a type of hypnosis designed for entertainment, but this couldn’t be further from the experience you get when you come to a clinical hypnotherapist in a modern talking therapy setting.
  • Firstly, when you are experiencing hypnotherapy, it does not require you to fall asleep to be effective. You may or may not end up falling asleep, often it is more a natural feeling you might experience as you start to drift off to sleep, or that period of time between coming out of a dream sequence, and realising you are actually just in your own room waking up in the morning. Being in a hypnotic state allows you to be more susceptible to change at a subconscious level, where your memories, habits, fears, negative self-talk, and associations with food are all stored.
  • Hypnotherapy can aid at addressing the core issues that trigger challenges related to weight loss in an individual and train your mind to move towards more healthier options and behaviour patterns around food.
  • Hypnotherapy can in addition to these aspects also help people manage stress, anxiety, and low moods, which can also lead to individuals using food as a form of comfort, to cope with their feelings.
  • So if you have never considered hypnotherapy before, there is no time like the present to book yourself some you time, and experience these positive changes for yourself.
